Background
Luciferase is a widely used bioluminescent enzyme that catalyzes the oxidation of luciferin, resulting in the emission of light. This property makes luciferase an invaluable tool in cellular studies, particularly for tracking and imaging live cells in real time. For fluorescence labeling, luciferase can be genetically fused to other fluorescent proteins or used in conjunction with bioluminescent assays to visualize cellular processes. The use of luciferase in fluorescence applications allows for high sensitivity and specificity, enabling researchers to monitor gene expression, protein interactions, and cellular dynamics with minimal background interference.

Mycoplasma Testing

Mycoplasma contamination is detected by using a PCR Mycoplasma Test Kit. The kit utilizes the polymerase chain reaction (PCR), which has been established as the method of choice for detecting mycoplasma and acholeplasma contamination with the highest sensitivity in cell cultures and other cell culture-derived biologicals.
The results showed that the cell line was negative for Mycoplasma.
