Liposomes Phospholipids Lipids

Phosphatidylserine & Lysophosphatidylserine (PS & LPS)

Creative Biolabs is offering a series of PS & LPS products that have been used as carriers for drug delivery due to their excellent biocompatibility. The infusion of PS can achieve the preferred recognition carriers by macrophages and improve drug delivery efficiency.

Phosphatidylserine (PS) is not equally abundant in all types of mammalian cells. It is particularly enriched in the retina and the human cerebral cortex (approximately 15% of total phospholipid). The abundance of PS also changes among different organelle membranes; the concentration of PS is highest in endosomes and plasma membranes, but low in mitochondria, especially mitochondrial inner membranes. Additionally, PS is asymmetrically distributed across the bilayer, which is enriched in the inner compared to the outer. Several physiological processes can lead to the redistribution of PS from the inner plasma membrane to the outer. For example, the plasma membrane of activated platelets is altered and exposed PS on the cell surface during the blood clotting cascade. In the early stage of apoptosis, PS was also found to move from the inner leaflet to the outer, presenting a signal for the recognition and engulfment of phagocytic cells. Lysophosphatidylserine (LPS) is derived from the deacylation of PS and has a fatty acid on either position of the glycerol backbone. It has been proved to be an important lipid mediator in diseases such as neurodegenerative disorders and autoimmune diseases.

With years of experience in lipid-based drug development, Creative Biolabs provides various kinds of phospholipids for scientific research. Our high-quality products and experienced R&D team are always ready to assist and speed up your research. Please feel free to contact us for more information.
