Introduction
Mycoplasma capricolum, which is mainly found in goats, belongs to the genus Mycoplasma. It is also found in cows and sheep. The natural transmission pathway of M. capricolum is through inhalation of infectious droplets. M.capricolum is highly destructive in goats, causing important mortality and morbidity. The infection often leads to destructive results in Africa and Asia goat farming industry. Severe arthritis is the primary clinical manifestation. Some of the subspecies of M. capricolum are especially virulent, such as subsp. mycoides and subsp.capripneumoniae, with the morbidity and mortality rate of 60%-70%.
