Trehalose-6,6-dibehenate is a non-toxic, synthetically produced compound that mimics trehalose 6,6'-dimycolate, a component found in mycobacterial cell walls. Studies have demonstrated that it activates Th1/Th17 innate immune responses through its interaction with the C-type lectin receptor Mincle and the downstream signaling molecules Syk and Card9.
