Initially, IgE reactivity and allergen activity caused by recombinant hypoallergenic allergens are reduced by disrupting their three-dimensional structure or changing their surface. The B-cell epitope-based recombinant grass pollen allergy vaccine BM32 is well tolerated and rarely dosed to suppress immediate allergic reactions as well as allergen-specific T cell responses by selective induction of allergen-specific IgG antibodies.

T Cell Epitope Vaccine

T-cell epitope peptides to be used as tolerogens have been chemically synthesized or produced in recombinant bacteria or yeasts, and then extracted and purified for peptide immunotherapy. T-cell epitopes are also good tolerogen candidates because they exhibit no or little binding capacity for the IgE due to the lack of B-cell epitopes and because of conformational changes.
