Vaccine for Plant Pollens Allergy

Plant pollens are the most common cause of seasonal allergic disease and are one of the major medical and public health burdens in the industrialized world. In general, allergen avoidance, pharmacotherapy, and immunotherapy are the three main principles of treatment for allergic diseases, among which vaccine-based allergen-specific immunotherapy plays an increasingly important role in the treatment of allergic diseases. Creative Biolabs is a world leader in the field of vaccine development. With our extensive experience and advanced platform, we are therefore confident in offering the best vaccine development services for allergic disease.

Introduction of Plant Pollens Allergy

Vaccines for Plant Pollens Allergy– Creative Biolabs

Plant pollens can induce a range of allergic reactions including seasonal allergic rhinitis (SAR) or pollinosis, rhinoconjunctivitis, or a less common but severe form, allergic asthma. Plant pollen allergies are a major public health problem affecting 10-30% of the world population. Prevalence has increased over recent decades. Allergens derived from tree, grass, and weed pollen cause SAR or rhinoconjunctivitis. Allergen-Specific Immunotherapy (AIT) through subcutaneous injection or sublingual delivery is the only approved therapy with the curative potential to pollen-induced allergies and vaccine-based allergen-specific immunotherapy plays an increasingly important role in the treatment of allergic diseases.

DNA Vaccine

DNA vaccines generally consist of a suitable promoter and a gene encoding allergen, such as Japanese cedar pollen allergen Cry j 1 gene and birch pollen allergen Bet v 1 gene. This treatment is shown to be effective, reduces IgE production caused by seasonal allergen exposure and eliminates IgE-mediated immediate side effects. To date, all reported preclinical studies on allergen gene immunization support the concept that DNA immunization could be effective for the prevention and treatment of allergic diseases and greatly encourage further research in this field. Therefore, recombinant DNA constructs provide novel strategies for the prevention and treatment of allergic diseases.

B Cell Epitope Vaccine

Allergic vaccines based on B cell epitopes represent a further development of recombinant hypoallergenic allergen derivatives which have been engineered to reduce IgE reactivity and thereby reduce allergen activity of allergens. Initially, IgE reactivity and allergen activity caused by recombinant hypoallergenic allergens are reduced by disrupting their three-dimensional structure or changing their surface. The B-cell epitope-based recombinant grass pollen allergy vaccine BM32 is well tolerated and rarely dosed to suppress immediate allergic reactions as well as allergen-specific T cell responses by selective induction of allergen-specific IgG antibodies.

T Cell Epitope Vaccine

T-cell epitope peptides to be used as tolerogens have been chemically synthesized or produced in recombinant bacteria or yeasts, and then extracted and purified for peptide immunotherapy. T-cell epitopes are also good tolerogen candidates because they exhibit no or little binding capacity for the IgE due to the lack of B-cell epitopes and because of conformational changes.
