Lung disease, also known as lung disease and respiratory disease, refers to several diseases or disorders that prevent normal lung function, including asthma, pulmonary fibrosis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), lung cancer, and pneumonia, which cause high levels of disability and mortality, affecting millions of people worldwide. Ventilator-associated pneumonia is an important clinical manifestation of the nosocomial pathogen Pseudomonas aeruginosa, scientists have characterized the correlates of protection with a bispecific antibody that targets the P. aeruginosa type 3 secretion system in a rabbit model of ventilator-associated pneumonia. Currently, therapeutic antibodies (Abs) provide breakthrough solutions for various diseases, including respiratory diseases.

Bispecific Antibodies (BsAbs) for Pulmonary, Respiratory Diseases Therapy

Research has shown that in an HDM-driven asthma model, BsAbs targeting both IL-4, IL-13, and IL-5 signaling pathways during stimulation can effectively reduce all significant asthma features. This suggests the feasibility of developing anti-IL-4ra/IL-5 BsAbs targeting multiple cytokine pathways as potent inhibitors of asthma features, providing new treatment options for patients with moderate to severe asthma or other chronic airway diseases. In addition, scientists have designed a bispecific quad antibody format, creating the first precise treatment that goes beyond passive vascular transport to solid tissue (lungs). It is also reported that the BsAb targeting both HER2 and VEGF can serve as a potent anti-lung cancer therapeutic antibody.
