SARS-CoV-2 (2019-nCoV, COVID-19) has been identified as a group 2B CoV and shares 79.5% sequence identity with SARS-CoV and 96% of identity with a bat coronavirus. S protein of the SARS-CoV-2 retains sufficient affinity to human receptor - angiotensin converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) to use it as a mechanism of cell entry. Due to the unprecedented international spread, COVID-19 was declared a Public Health Emergency by WHO and attracted unprecedented global attention.
