Elastase is a serine protease composed of a single polypeptide chain of 240 amino acid residues and four disulfide bridges. owing to its capacity to digest native elastin, elastase has been frequently applied in the digestion of fibrous tissues combined with other proteases such as collagenase and trypsin.
