Monoclonal Goat Antibody Discovery Introduction

The goat is the common large mammal whose pharmacologic responses are closest to those of humans, and therefore, it is the most commonly used large mammalian laboratory animal. Currently, goats are widely used in medicine for serological diagnosis, blood cultures, and in different research fields such as nutrition, microbiology, immunology, and lactation physiology. In addition, goats have long been recognized as ideal hosts for the cultivation of antibody products and are particularly suitable for large-scale production of antibodies. Based on our rich field experience and advanced monoclonal goat antibody preparation platform, Creative Biolabs provides comprehensive antibody discovery services to support monoclonal goat antibody production.

Monoclonal Goat Antibody Discovery

Goats belong to the family of Mammalia, Artiodactyla, Bovidae. Goats are characterized by a docile temperament, not biting or kicking, strong adaptability, and easy feeding. Its jugular vein is superficial and thick, and it is easy to collect blood, so goat blood is used in large quantities for medical serological diagnosis and blood culture medium in laboratories. Goat is suitable for nutrition, microbiology, immunology, lactation physiology research, radiobiology research, and experimental surgery, making pulmonary edema models.

Monoclonal antibodies have been widely studied in more fields as a result of technological advancements. In medical diagnosis, monoclonal antibodies are widely used in enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, radioimmunoassay, immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, etc., due to their high specificity, high purity, and good homogeneity. In addition, with the wide application of monoclonal antibodies, the development of commercialized kits has been greatly promoted. In the field of disease treatment, monoclonal antibodies are an important part of the biopharmaceutical field. Currently, monoclonal antibodies have been used in the treatment of hematological malignancies, solid tumors, autoimmune diseases, asthma, microbial infections, osteoporosis, and many other diseases. Goats play a crucial role in the field of culturing antibody products. It has been proven that genetically modified goats can produce complex monoclonal antibodies in their milk. After further cultivation, researchers found that goats also produce a modified version of the anti-EGFR IgG1 monoclonal antibody in their milk, and this improves efficacy and also has a higher safety profile.

Goats are an ideal host for breeding antibody products. Monoclonal goat antibodies have proven to be a powerful tool for a wide variety of antibody research applications, such as immunodiagnostic kits, host cell protein assays, and potency assays. Phage display library construction of monoclonal goat antibodies can be used to obtain high-affinity specific antibodies more quickly and conveniently. Generally, natural antibody libraries or semi-synthetic antibody libraries can be screened for any desired high affinity specific antibody. Many moderate or high affinity antibody molecules have also been obtained by this route, and the specificity of these antibodies can be sufficient for general research requirements. If the experiment has higher requirements and antibody molecules of the desired affinity are not available from the above mentioned antibody libraries, or if a set of antibodies against specific antigens and a study of the biological response to the antibodies are required, the immune antibody libraries are the best choice. High-affinity and high-specificity antibodies can be screened from such immune antibody libraries because the abundance of specific antibodies against the corresponding immunogens is much higher than that of other non-specific antibodies due to the selective pressure of immunization, and some of these specific antibodies undergo the process of maturation of the affinity of the immune system. In research and experiments, it is necessary to determine the appropriate antibody acquisition method and which phage display library to choose based on the specific experimental requirements and research objectives.
