MST1R

Macrophage stimulating protein receptor (MST1R), also known as RON, PTK8, CD136, is a cell membrane localized protein that belongs to a small family of receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs). Similar to the other members RTKs family, the mature MST1R is comprised of a disulfide-linked heterodimer of an extracellular alpha subunit and a membrane-spanning beta subunit. The mature MST1R is the product of the proteolytic cleavage of a single-chain precursor.

MST1R overexpression has been observed in a large variety of primary breast carcinomas and non-small cell lung carcinomas, indicating the mutation and abnormal expression of MST1R is associated with mammary and lung tumor progression. MST1R is an appealing target for tumor treatments using antibody-based immunotherapies.
