Monkey hepatocytes, which are critical for drug metabolism and toxicity studies, have been widely used in preclinical drug development assays, such as metabolism, clearance, uptake, hepatotoxicity, induction, and drug-drug interaction (DDI) assays. They are a highly effective model for prediction in human patients as homologous drug-metabolizing enzymes are also abundantly found in human hepatocytes in the liver, a primary site of drug metabolism.
