The Assay Principle: The MAT kit targets human Toll-Like Receptors (TLRs) naturally expressed on native human monocytes. When a parenterally administered product or medical device extract contains pyrogens, the monocytes are activated. They release pro-inflammatory cytokines (IL-6) in exact proportion to the contaminant's biological activity in humans. This cytokine profile is then rapidly quantified using a standard ELISA readout.
