DLL3

Delta like canonical Notch ligand 3 (DLL3), also known as Delta-like 3 or SCDO1, is a transmembrane Delta-like protein that belongs to the delta protein ligand family. Members of this family works as Notch ligands and DLL3 protein does not bind Notch receptors but functions as an antagonist of Notch signaling. This protein contains a transmembrane domain, EGF repeats and a DSL domain. DLL3 protein is highly expressed in fetal brain and neuroendocrine tumors, which has been targeted as a potential pathway for treatment. Also, an experimental drug, rovalpituzumab tesirine, targets DLL3 may be a promising treatment for lung cancer.

What's more, it is reported that the DLL3 protein may be involved in somite segmentation and neurogenesis during early embryonic development, and genetic mutation of this protein may cause autosomal recessive spondylocostal dysostosis 1.
