Caveolin-1 Polyclonal Antibody (NHP-AB319)

  • This product is an antibody that was generated by immunizing rabbit against a peptide located in the N-Terminal region of Caveolin - 1 (Human). It is used only in in vitro assays.

Detailed Product Description

  • Introduction: Caveolin-1 or CAV1 is a scaffolding proteins within caveolar membranes. It interacts directly with G-protein alpha subunits and can functionally regulate their activity. Caveolin-1 is also involved in the co-stimulatory signal essential for T-cell receptor (TCR) mediated T-cell activation. It can bind with DPP4 and induces T-cell proliferation and NF-kappa-B activation in a T-cell receptor/CD3-dependent manner. Mutations affecting the CAV1 gene can result in congenital generalized lipodystrophy 3, pulmonary hypertension primary 3, or partial lipodystrophy/congenital cataracts, and neurodegeneration syndrome.

  • Caveolin-1 Polyclonal Antibody (NHP-AB319) Data Sheet: Detailed information.
  1. Q 1: What are the recommended protocols for using Caveolin-1 Polyclonal Antibody in flow cytometry and why is specificity important?

A: For flow cytometry applications, the Caveolin-1 Polyclonal Antibody is used following a detailed protocol that involves fixation, permeabilization, and immunostaining steps. These procedures are critical for ensuring accurate detection and analysis of Caveolin-1 expression in various cell types. The antibody's specificity for Caveolin-1 without cross-reacting with other caveolin family members is essential for reliable results, especially in studies focusing on caveolae's role in cell signaling, cholesterol homeostasis, and other cellular functions. Proper protocol adherence ensures the antibody targets the intended protein, providing valuable insights into Caveolin-1's biological roles and interactions.

  2. Q 2: How does Caveolin-1 Polyclonal Antibody interact with influenza A virus, and what are the implications for research?

A: Research has demonstrated that Caveolin-1 plays a significant role in the multiplication of the human influenza A virus (H1N1) within cell cultures. Specifically, studies using antibodies against Caveolin-1 have shown that manipulating the levels of Caveolin-1 in cells can affect the replication of the virus. This interaction is crucial for understanding the cellular mechanisms of viral infection and replication, providing a potential target for antiviral research and therapy development.

  • High Specificity and Effectiveness in Western Blot
The antibody is excellent for use in Western Blot applications, particularly noting its effectiveness when diluted in 3% BSA PBST for use on HUVEC cells.
  • Reliable for Complex Biological Samples
The antibody has reliability in detecting Caveolin-1 at a 1:1000 dilution in Western Blot applications across prostate cell lines such as PC3 and DU145.
