Product Overview

The gel clot method relies on the evolutionary defense mechanism of the Atlantic horseshoe crab (Limulus polyphemus). Within its circulating blood amebocytes lies a highly sensitive, interconnected cascade of serine protease enzymes (zymogens).
Positive Reaction (+): A firm, intact gel forms at the base of the reaction tube. When the tube is smoothly inverted 180°, the clot remains completely solid and structurally sound. This confirms that the endotoxin concentration is equal to or greater than the kit's labeled sensitivity.
Negative Reaction (-): No solid clot forms. The solution may exhibit increased turbidity or viscosity, but any structural collapse or flow upon a 180° inversion designates a negative result, proving the endotoxin concentration is safely below the threshold.
