CD37

CD37 molecule (CD37), also known as GP52-40 or TSPAN26, is a 40‑45 kDa cell surface glycoprotein that belongs to the transmembrane 4 superfamily, also known as the tetraspanin family. Most of members in this family are cell-surface proteins characterized by the presence of four hydrophobic domains, and they play an important role in signal transduction events that include the regulation of cell development, growth and motility.

CD37 protein is expressed by lymphocytes and myeloid cells and it can form a complex with integrins and other transmembrane 4 superfamily proteins. Some research has indicated that CD37 may be involved in T-cell-B-cell interactions. Moreover, this protein directly associates with dectin-1 on macrophages and stabilizes cell surface dectin-1 expression. It can also inhibit T cell activation and proliferation by limiting T cell receptor signaling.
