TNFRSF8

TNF receptor superfamily member 8 (TNFRSF8), also known as CD30, Ki-1 or D1S166E, is a cell membrane protein of the tumor necrosis factor receptor family and functions as the receptor for TNFSF8/CD30L. This protein is expressed by activated, but not by resting, T and B cells. Interacting with TRAF2 and TRAF5, this receptor can mediate the signal transduction that leads to the activation of NF-kappaB and regulation of gene expression. In addition to being a positive regulator of apoptosis, this receptor also plays a role in protecting the body against autoimmunity by limiting the proliferative potential of autoreactive CD8 effector T cells.

This receptor is commonly expressed in various tumors, such as Hodgkin lymphoma (HL), anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL), testicular embryonal carcinoma, therefore, it is widely used as a tumor marker in targeted immune therapy.
