NAA Services for Anti-Alloantibody Xg

Red blood cell (RBC) alloimmunization is an important complication in transfusion-dependent patients. It is particularly important to select appropriate transfusion methods. selection of matched blood for transfusion is particularly important. As a recognized natural autoantibody (NAA) service provider, Creative Biolabs can offer various NAA-related services against anti-alloantibody Xg to help our worldwide customers obtain progress in research and projects. We guarantee that we can not only save your valuable time but also provide highly sensitive and qualified services to you.

Background of Anti-Xg Antibody

The Xg blood group system is best known for its contributions to the fields of genetics and chromosome mapping. This kind of blood group system is differentially expressed on erythrocytes from men and women. This system comprises two antigens, Xg(a) and CD99 (encoded by the MIC2 gene). Xg(a) demonstrates a clear X-linked pattern of inheritance and MIC2 is found in the pseudoautosomal region of both the X and Y chromosomes. The phenotypic relationship between Xg (a) and CD99 antigens is believed to result from transcriptional coregulation of the corresponding genes, which span the pseudoautosomal boundary of the X and Y chromosomes. The Xg(a⁺) and Xg(a⁻) blood groups are common polymorphic phenotypes among individuals. A study reported that single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) rs311103 is responsible for the Xg(a⁺)/Xg(a⁻) phenotypes.

The Role of Anti-Xg Antibody in Thalassemia

Thalassaemia is the most common monogenic disorder worldwide. It is common in areas with prevalent malaria as thalassaemic red cells provide immunity against the parasite. β-thalassemia is considered a severe, progressive anemia, which needs regular transfusions for life expectancy. However, one of the most important complications of regular blood transfusions is autoimmunization and alloimmunization. As for Xg(a), anti-Xg(a) is comparatively rare and alloanti-Xg(a) is considered clinically insignificant. Although reported cases of alloanti-Xg(a) are limited, it can lead to severe hemolytic anemia. Therefore, for avoiding unnecessary disease risk, alloanti-D screening is still very important.

What We Can Do about NAA?

Natural autoantibodies/innate autoimmunity form a network that protects the body from external and internal dangers, but can also lead to autoimmune diseases. Equipped with our well-established platforms and experienced scientists, we can provide comprehensive NAA services, from NAA detection, NAA profiling, to NAA epitope mapping. A wide spectrum of NAA products is available for your choice.
