NativeExtract™ Membrane Protein Products

Membrane proteins (MPs) are necessary for energy synthesis, transport, signaling, and maintaining cell homeostasis. They are significant pharmacological targets since they are essential to both human health and normal function. Understanding how proteins work and are regulated in animals and cells requires an understanding of proteins in their natural environments. However, pure proteins under well-controlled settings provide a better place to study the atomic and molecular aspects of proteins' structures and processes. Working with pure proteins reconstituted in model membranes that are durable enough to support study in an abiotic environment for extended periods is necessary to fully comprehend MPs. In order to analyze the purified MP of interest's structure, function, and regulation, it must be placed into a membrane that allows it to function as it would in the native cell membrane while still being solubilized and stable.

Creative Biolabs has developed a proprietary synthetic compound to solubilize target membrane protein directly from cell membrane while retaining the native structure of the target protein. It dissolves cell membranes, similar to detergent, while using natural cellular phospholipids to form nanodiscs.
