Stable cell lines are immortal cells which are able to express interested protein (or other useful molecules) stably under controlled level. In general, the developed stable cell lines are expected to grow continuously over a prolonged period and have no considerable change for the expression level of target gene. To make a truly overexpression stable cell line, the interested gene is usually put under the control of a strong promoter and then integrated into host chromosomes to retain intact host genetic materials in continuous cell culture.
