Creative Biolabs has launched matched antibody pairs that are specifically designed and screened for antigen detection kit development, which are suitable for different diagnostic assays, such as chemiluminescent immunoassay (CLIA), ELISA, gold immunochromatography assay, etc. The sensitivity of matched antibody pair suitable for sandwich ELISA application is verified by using recombinant antigens. For some specific products, the pair sets have been verified using inactivated virus, serum, urine samples. Creative Biolabs will provide you high-quality antibody pairs to support your assays/kits development. Our Product lines are continuously updated.

Technical FAQs

  1. What antibody pairs could be used for?
  2. Matched antibody pairs are now having a revamp in some research areas, not only the “classical” ELISA use, but also IP-WB and even protein-protein interaction studies.

    • ELISA for biomarker quantification
    • IP-WB for biomarker discovery
    • Protein-protein interactions for biomarker discovery
  3. What the antibody pair product format?
  4. Our antibody pairs come in 2 formats:

    • Antibody pair kits: include capture and detection antibody pair. Available in two sizes, with enough reagents for either 5 or 10 x 96-well plates using a standard sandwich ELISA.
    • Carrier-free antibody pairs (BSA, glycerol, and azide free): include a capture and detector antibody pair, suitable for ELISA-based assays. Available as 5 or 10 x 96-wells plate. No pre-coated plates.

Individual capture and detector antibodies can also be purchased separately. For desired size, please contact us.

  5. Will the antibody pair work in an untested species?
  6. This will depend on how closely related the target species to your species of interest is. You can obtain the different protein sequences from UniProt and check the sequence mapping using the analysis tool. Alternatively, quickly check whether the epitope of your antibody matches a sequence of the untested species.

  7. How can I determine whether an antibody may detect in an untested species?
  8. Creative Biolabs is unable to guarantee that an antibody will work in an untested species, even if the sequence alignment is high. There are many variables involved in the determining whether an antibody will bind in another species. If there are no alternatives available, and it is necessary for you to consider purchasing an antibody for use in a species that is not tested, we recommend checking the sequence alignment of the immunogen with the protein you are interested in.

  9. Will this antibody pair cross react with another isoform of this protein, or protein from the same ‘family’?
  10. For some of our antibodies cross reactivity data is available. Please check the ‘specificity’ section on the datasheet. If information is not available here, we recommend checking the sequence alignment of the immunogen with the isoforms or other proteins you are interested in.

  11. Can you provide the immunogen sequence?
  12. For some of our antibodies, the immunogen sequence is readily available on the product datasheet. However, some immunogen sequences, are proprietary. We invest a lot of time and effort into selecting immunogen sequences in order to deliver the most effective antibodies. We sometimes decide to protect this information and we are unable to release this information, even on request.

  13. What concentration should I use for my capture antibody and detection antibody?
  14. The concentration used will depend on the batch, application the antibody is being used for and the expected concentration of the target protein. Please remember that the following dilutions and concentration estimates are simply recommended as a starting point, and it may be necessary to adjust the dilution based on the experimental results.

Culture supernatant Ascites Whole antiserum Purified antibody
    WB/DB 1/100 1/1000 1/500 1 ug/ml
    IHC/ICC neat - 1/10 1/100 1/50-1/100 5 ug/ml
    EIA/ELISA 1/1000 1/10000 1/500 0.1 ug/ml
    FACS/FC 1/100 1/1000 1/500 1 ug/ml
    IP 1/100 1/50-1/100 1-10 ug/ml
    Concentration estimate 1-3 mg/ml 5-10 mg/ml 1-10 mg/ml
  15. Is the information on the datasheet up-to-date and correct?
  16. The datasheets contain the most up-to-date information we have available to us about this product. Where we find additional information, the data sheets are updated live on the website immediately, so they should never be out of date.

  17. What antigen retrieval method should I use with this antibody pair?
  18. We do not always have information available on the most suitable antigen retrieval method for an antibody in immunohistochemistry. This will often require a certain amount of optimization by the end user.

  19. How should I store my antibody pair?
  20. We recommend always storing the antibody as directed on the datasheet. We are unable to guarantee how the antibody will perform if not stored as stated on the datasheet. Most of our antibody pair products are shipped in a 4ºC refrigerated packaging, which has been shown to provide a stable environment for products in transit. If you have any specific shipping requirements, please contact us.

    Notes

    • Please store the antibody correctly according to the instructions recommended!
    • No matter in storage or transportation, avoid repeated freezing and thawing!
    • Repeated freeze-thaw cycles will lead to antibody denaturation, resulting in the formation of polymers, thereby reducing the ability of antibodies to bind!
  21. How should I aliquot my antibody?
  22. The size of the aliquots will depend on how much one typically uses in an experiment. Aliquots should be no smaller than 10 µl; the smaller the aliquot, the more the stock concentration is affected by evaporation and adsorption of the antibody onto the surface of the storage vial.

  23. Why was this antibody discontinued? Can I get more of this antibody?
  24. We sometimes have to discontinue a product. This can be for several reasons, such as poor sales, or production difficulties. On some occasions, this can be for quality issues, but this is not always the case. If we have a replacement for the antibody, we will supply the catalog number when you attempt to bring up the discontinued product’s datasheet.
