Blockers are used to reduce non-specific binding and/or other interference that can lead to false positive results. Currently, these antibody interferences occur mainly in the application of sandwich and competitive immunoassays related to protein detection.
The non-specific reaction produced can make a truly negative sample appear positive (false positive) and a truly positive sample appear negative (false negative). To avoid this type of situation, specialized blockers are needed to reduce any interference and ensure the accuracy of the detection analysis.
