PRODUCT INFORMATION

Description
Octreotide (SMS 201-995) is a synthetic, long-acting octapeptide analogue of endogenous somatostatin. It functions as a potent agonist with high binding affinity for somatostatin receptor subtypes 2, 3, and 5 (SSTR2, SSTR3, SSTR5). Its mechanism involves activating Gi-protein coupled pathways, leading to the inhibition of adenylyl cyclase and a subsequent decrease in intracellular cAMP levels. It is a standard tool for in vitro research into SSTR signaling pathways.
