Antigen Detail

TargetELN
DescriptionElastin (ELN) is one of the two components of elastic fibers and a major structural protein of tissues such as aorta and nuchal ligament, which must expand rapidly and recover completely. ELN is the molecular determinant of the late arterial morphogenesis, stabilizing arterial structure by regulating proliferation and organization of vascular smooth muscle.

Target Overview

Gene SymbolELN
Full NameElastin
BackgroundElastin is a key protein in the extracellular matrix. It has high elasticity and exists in connective tissues, allowing many tissues in the body to recover their shape after stretching or contracting. Elastin helps restore its original position when poking or pinching the skin. Elastin is also an important load-bearing tissue in vertebrates and is used where mechanical energy needs to be stored. In humans, elastin is encoded by the ELN gene.
Alternative NamesELN; SVAS; WBS; WS; elastin; ADCL1
Gene ID2006 (Human); 13717 (Mouse)
Uniprot IDP15502 (Human); P54320 (Mouse)

For Research Use Only.
