Recombinant antibodies are widely used in research, diagnostics and therapeutic areas. Antibody generation has been dramatically accelerated by in vitro selection systems, particularly phage display. These new antibody generation technologies have increased the amount of antibodies for different applications and, therefore, also the need of efficient production systems. To support the manufacture of antibody in various application areas, Creative Biolabs is able to offer comprehensive antibody expression systems. Our antibody production services include production and purification of bispecific antibody, recombinant IgG, scFv/Fab and single domain antibodies (sdAbs).

Bacterial Expression System

Bacterial expression system has been the most popular means of producing recombinant proteins as bacterium is fast growing, easy genetic manipulation, high yields, adapted to scale-up production and low overall cost. Creative Biolabs offers ready-to-use competent cells for expression of antibodies in E. coli including secreting expression in periplasm, soluble expression in cytoplasm and insoluble expression as inclusion bodies.

Yeast Expression System

Yeast expression system is a common alternative method to prokaryotic. It generally achieves the highest expression level in eukaryotic system including both secretion and intracellular expression. Yeast cells both have the advantages of producing proteins in microbes (high growth speed, easy genetic manipulation, high yield and low cost) and attributes of eukaryotic systems (post translational modifications, secretory expression). It is ideally suitable for large-scale production of antibodies. Creative Biolabs developed yeast expression system to help you optimize for highest yield possible of your antibodies.

Baculovirus-Insect Expression System

Insect cells used in combination with baculovirus expression vectors are increasingly important for antibody production. These expression systems are based on the ability of baculovirus to infect insect cells. Antibodies using baculovirus as vectors can be produced both in insect cells and larvae. Besides, it is noninfectious in vertebrates and its promoters are inactive in mammalian cells. The main insect cell lines used are Spodoptera frugiperda (SF) and Trichoplusia ni. Available insect cell lines provided by Creative Biolabs are Sf9, Sf21 and Hi-5, and these multiple cell lines cab further enhance the expression of your proteins.

Mammalian Cell Expression System

As an alternative method to insect cell expression system, Creative Biolabs offers mammalian cell expression service for transient expression and stable cell line development. Our mammalian cells can be cultivated in suspension way or serum-free suspension cell culture with high density which the volume could reach to 1000 L and even more. Two cell lines are available: HEK293 and CHO.

Plant Expression System

Plants are one of the world's most cost-effective protein producers. Transgenic plants can be engineered to accumulate antibodies in their seeds or grains or leaves making them low-cost bio-factories since fermentation bioreactors are essential for microbial and animal cell cultures. Greenhouse-based manufacturing facilities have become more and more important in building rapid and economic scale-up protein expression systems in order to meet market demands. Creative Biolabs has developed advanced and tailored antibody expression platform based on tobacco (Nicotiana benthamiana) to produce recombinant antibodies.

Cell-free Expression Systems

Creative Biolabs provides various cell-free expression systems to express and manufacture antibodies rapidly. Cell-free protein expression is performed in cell lysates rather than within cultured cells. We provide several different types and species of cell lysate, both prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells, including E. coli, wheat germ, rabbit reticulocytes, insect cell (such as SF9 or SF21) and human cell lysates. Extracts made from these systems contain all the necessary transcriptional and translational macromolecules for efficient protein synthesis.
