In the field of microbiology, the chromogenic media are efficient medium used to isolate, identify, and differentiate specific microorganism. According to the detection of a distinct color change in the medium, the target organism can be confirmed directly. Compared with classical culture media, the chromogenic media are based on enzymatic utilization of chromogenic substrates rather than the principle of change in color of the pH indicator.
