Description
Synonyms: N-[2-[2-[2-(2-Azidoethoxy)ethoxy]ethoxy]ethyl]-3',6'-dihydroxy-3-oxo-3H-spiro[isobenzofuran-1,9'-xanthene]-6-carboxamide. This reagent links the green-fluorescent 6-FAM dye to a terminal azide via a hydrophilic 3-unit PEG spacer. It is a "click-reactive" fluorophore. It is used to label biomolecules that have been functionalized with a terminal alkyne or a strained cyclooctyne (e.g., BCN, DBCO). The reaction (CuAAC or SPAAC) is bioorthogonal and highly specific. The PEG3 spacer enhances water solubility and provides spacing to reduce steric hindrance.
