PRODUCT INFORMATION
Description
This reagent consists of the pyrene fluorophore attached to a C4 (butyric acid) spacer. The terminal carboxylic acid can be activated (e.g., with EDC/NHS) to covalently label primary amines on proteins, peptides, or lipids. The spacer helps to move the pyrene moiety away from the biomolecule. It is widely used as a membrane probe to study fluidity (via excimer formation) due to its long fluorescence lifetime.
