Description
This is a heterobifunctional, hydrophilic PEG linker with orthogonal protecting groups. It features a primary hydroxyl (-OH) group and a t-butyl (OtBu) ester-protected carboxylic acid. The hydroxyl group is a stable handle that can be used for immobilization onto activated surfaces (e.g., epoxy) or for esterification. The t-butyl ester provides robust protection for the terminal carboxylic acid. It is stable to many conditions but can be selectively removed using strong acid (e.g., trifluoroacetic acid, TFA) to reveal the free carboxyl, which can then be activated for amine coupling.
