Description

SMPB is a non-cleavable, heterobifunctional crosslinker with a relatively long, rigid spacer. It contains an amine-reactive N-hydroxysuccinimide (NHS) ester and a sulfhydryl-reactive maleimide group. The NHS ester reacts efficiently with primary amines (lysines) at pH 7.0-9.0, while the maleimide group targets thiols (cysteines) at pH 6.5-7.5. The linker's 4-(p-maleimidophenyl)butyrate spacer arm is non-cleavable and provides a long, rigid linkage, which can be advantageous when a defined distance is required.
