Description
This is a heterobifunctional linker for bioorthogonal 'Click Chemistry.' It contains an amine-reactive N-hydroxysuccinimide (NHS) ester and a methyltetrazine moiety. The NHS ester is used to "install" the tetrazine handle onto a biomolecule (e.g., a protein or antibody) by reacting with its primary amines (lysines). The tetrazine group then participates in extremely fast, specific, and bioorthogonal Inverse-Electron-Demand Diels-Alder (IEDDA) "click" reactions with strained alkenes, such as trans-cyclooctene (TCO) or bicyclononyne (BCN), for cellular imaging or in vivo targeting.
