4-Maleimidobutyric Acid NHS (GMBS) Heterobifunctional Crosslinker (CAT#: OLY-1023-YS107)
Datasheet MSDSCas No.: 80307-12-6
PRODUCT INFORMATION
Description
GMBS is a non-cleavable, heterobifunctional crosslinker. It features an amine-reactive N-hydroxysuccinimide (NHS) ester and a sulfhydryl-reactive maleimide group. The NHS ester reacts with primary amines (lysines) at pH 7.0-9.0, while the maleimide group targets thiols (cysteines) at pH 6.5-7.5. These groups are separated by a 4-carbon (C4) aliphatic spacer, which is shorter than the C6 spacer of EMCS or the cyclohexyl spacer of SMCC. GMBS is used to create stable, covalent linkages between amine- and thiol-containing molecules over a short, defined distance.
