PRODUCT INFORMATION
Description
(R)-α-Lipoic Acid is a versatile heterobifunctional molecule. It features a terminal carboxylic acid that can be activated (e.g., with EDC/NHS) to react with primary amines. Its defining feature is the 1,2-dithiolane ring. This ring (or its reduced dithiol form) provides a high-affinity bidentate anchor for strong, stable conjugation to gold surfaces. This makes it a gold-standard reagent for immobilizing proteins, peptides, or ligands onto gold nanoparticles (AuNPs), Self-Assembled Monolayers (SAMs), SPR sensors, and QCM chips.
