Bovine serum albumin (BSA) is a globular non-glycated protein containing 583 amino acids derived from bovine serum albumin. Serum albumin is an important component of cell culture medium and a carrier of drugs such as growth factors, adhesion factors, and hormones, which can prolong the circulation time of small molecules in the body and produce stable and long-lasting drugs and imaging probes. At the same time, BSA also has a wide range of physiological functions, including binding, transport, and delivery of porphyrins, fatty acids, bilirubin steroids, etc., making it a model system for biofunctionalization. Albumin-mediated delivery has shown advantages for a variety of anticancer drugs. BSA has great potential as a nanocarrier in food and pharmaceutical applications. BSA as a drug vehicle has also been extensively used to deliver anticancer drugs or therapeutic agents.
