CD7 (Cluster of Differentiation 7) represents a transmembrane protein classified within the immunoglobulin superfamily. Expressed on thymocytes and mature T cells, it plays a crucial role in T-cell interactions and early lymphoid development involving T-cell/B-cell interactions. Additionally, CD7 is identified on natural killer (NK) cells. Elevated CD7 expression is notably observed in T-acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL), T-cell lymphoblastic lymphoma (T-LBL), and acute myeloid leukemia (AML), closely linked to the initiation and progression of most T cell-derived malignancies. Furthermore, increased CD7 expression is associated with an unfavorable prognosis in patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
