Creative Biolabs is one of the leading providers of custom antibody generation and development services. We specialize in the generation of antibodies against a wide range of targets for R&D, diagnostic, and therapeutic applications. Especially, we have launched a series of in vitro diagnostic (IVD) antibody development services targeting numerous diagnostic biomarkers of human cancer diseases. Here, we focus on the CD24 as a marker of ovarian cancer.

Signal Transducer CD24 (CD24)

CD24 is a cell adhesion molecule which is also known as heat stable antigen CD24 (HSA) or cluster of differentiation 24. It is a protein that in humans is encoded by the CD24 gene. CD24 is a glycoprotein expressed at the surface of most B lymphocytes and differentiating neuroblasts. This gene encodes a sialoglycoprotein that is expressed on mature granulocytes and in many B cells. The encoded protein is anchored via a glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI) link to the cell surface. The protein also contributes to a wide range of downstream signaling networks and is crucial for neural development. CD24 gene is found on chromosome 6 (6q21), an alignment of this gene's sequence finds genomic locations with similarity on chromosomes 1p36, 3p26, 15q21.3, 20q11.2 and Yq11.222.

CD24 operates through a combination of in cis and in trans partners to affect cell behavior in a cell-specific manner Fig.1 CD24 operates through a combination of in cis and in trans partners to affect cell behavior in a cell-specific manner. (Ayre DC, 2016).

CD24 Marker of Ovarian Cancer

CD24 is a mucin-type glycosyl-phosphatidylinositol-linked glycoprotein, expressed on the surface of cells, which serves as a normal receptor for P-selectin and is found involved in molecular adhesion and metastatic tumor spread. CD24 is a ligand of P-selectin, an adhesion receptor on activated endothelial cells and platelets, and thus might contribute to the metastasizing capacities of CD24-expressing tumor cells. Expression rate of CD24 has been associated with progression of various cancers and poor survival rates. Very recently its expression in ovarian cancer has been found on RNA level by chip analysis. It is commonly expressed in ovarian cancer and that immunohistochemically determined CD24 expression is a strong and independent molecular marker of prognosis in this disease.

IVD Antibody Development Service Targeting CD24 Marker

Antibodies are core elements for antibody-based immunoassays for detecting and quantifying antigens of interest in all kinds of samples such as serum, urine, and tissue preparations. IVD antibodies are extensively used for disease screening, prognosis, and therapeutic monitoring. With our versatile IVD platform, Creative Biolabs is proud to develop novel CD24-specific antibody pairs from scratch to commercial IVD kits.

Our team consists of highly skilled and experienced scientists and professionals, fully dedicated and focused on the successful execution and completion of client projects. If you are interested in our services, please contact us to discuss your project needs.
