Description
Synonyms: Prodan. This product is a classic solvatochromic fluorescent probe, meaning its emission spectrum is highly sensitive to the polarity of its local environment. It exhibits a large blue shift in non-polar solvents and a red shift in polar solvents. This property makes it an excellent tool for studying membrane properties, as it partitions into lipid bilayers and reports on membrane surface polarity, hydration, and lipid packing. It's also used to study protein-lipid interactions and protein folding.
