PRODUCT INFORMATION

Description
3-Butynoic Acid is a short, heterobifunctional crosslinker. It contains two distinct reactive groups: a terminal alkyne and a carboxylic acid. The alkyne group is a bioorthogonal handle used for Copper(I)-catalyzed Alkyne-Azide Cycloaddition (CuAAC), or 'Click Chemistry,' allowing for specific conjugation to azide-functionalized molecules. The terminal carboxylic acid is not reactive on its own but can be readily activated using carbodiimide chemistry (e.g., EDC with NHS). This forms an active ester that can efficiently couple with primary amines (e.g., lysine residues on proteins or amine-modified surfaces).
