3-N-Maleimidobenzoic Acid-NHS (MBS) Heterobifunctional Crosslinker (CAT#: OLY-1023-YS106)
Datasheet MSDSCas No.: 58626-38-3
PRODUCT INFORMATION
Description
MBS is a non-cleavable, heterobifunctional crosslinker. It features an amine-reactive N-hydroxysuccinimide (NHS) ester and a sulfhydryl-reactive maleimide group. The NHS ester reacts with primary amines (lysines) at pH 7.0-9.0. The maleimide group targets thiols (cysteines) at pH 6.5-7.5. These two groups are separated by a short, rigid aromatic (benzoic acid) spacer. This rigidity provides a defined, short-range linkage. MBS is widely used to conjugate proteins to peptides, and its hydrophobic nature makes it membrane-permeable for intracellular crosslinking.
