1-Ethyl-3-(3-dimethylaminopropyl)carbodiimide (EDC) Zero-Length Crosslinker (CAT#: OLY-1023-YS281)
Datasheet MSDSCas No.: 25952-53-8
PRODUCT INFORMATION
Description
EDC is a water-soluble, zero-length crosslinker. It activates carboxyl groups (-COOH) to form a highly reactive O-acylisourea intermediate. This intermediate can then react with primary amines (-NH2) to form a stable amide bond. To increase efficiency and stability, EDC is often used with N-hydroxysuccinimide (NHS) or Sulfo-NHS. It is essential for protein-peptide conjugation, hapten-carrier conjugation, and immobilizing biomolecules onto carboxyl-functionalized surfaces.
