4-[3-(Trifluoromethyl)-3H-diazirin-3-yl]benzyl Bromide Photo-reactive Crosslinker (CAT#: OLY-1023-YS87)
Datasheet MSDSCas No.: 92367-11-8
PRODUCT INFORMATION
Description
This is a heterobifunctional, photo-reactive crosslinker used for photoaffinity labeling (PAL). It features two distinct groups: 1) A trifluoromethyl-diazirine moiety, which is stable in the dark but generates a highly reactive carbene upon UV light (approx. 350-370 nm) exposure. This carbene non-selectively inserts into nearby C-H or N-H bonds. 2) A benzyl bromide group, which is a reactive alkylating agent that can couple to nucleophiles, particularly thiols. It is used to pre-modify a 'bait' molecule, which is then used to probe and covalently trap interacting 'prey' proteins upon photoactivation.
