PRODUCT INFORMATION
Description
This is a homobifunctional, amine-reactive crosslinker, similar to DSS but with a shorter spacer. It possesses two N-hydroxysuccinimide (NHS) ester groups separated by a 7-carbon (C7) aliphatic pimelate spacer. NHS esters react efficiently with primary amines (lysines) at pH 7.0-9.0 to form stable, non-cleavable amide bonds. This linker is used for protein-protein interaction studies, providing a slightly shorter crosslinking distance (10.9 Å) than DSS (11.4 Å). Its hydrophobic nature allows it to permeate cell membranes for intracellular crosslinking.
