Description
This non-cleavable, heterobifunctional crosslinker is a longer-chain analogue of 4-Maleimidobutyric Acid. It contains a sulfhydryl-reactive maleimide group and a terminal carboxylic acid, separated by a flexible 6-carbon (C6) aliphatic spacer. The extended C6 spacer provides greater reach and can help overcome steric hindrance. The maleimide group targets thiols (cysteines, pH 6.5-7.5), while the carboxylic acid can be activated (EDC/NHS) to couple with primary amines (lysines). It is a staple reagent for conjugating peptides, proteins, or haptens.
