Description
This is a homobifunctional, sulfhydryl-reactive PEGylation crosslinker, a longer analogue of the PEG2 version. It features two maleimide groups separated by a hydrophilic 3-unit polyethylene glycol (PEG) spacer. The maleimide groups react specifically with thiols (cysteines) at pH 6.5-7.5 to form stable thioether bonds. The longer, flexible PEG3 spacer provides greater reach for crosslinking two cysteines that are further apart, either within a protein or between two different molecules. The PEG spacer enhances water solubility.
