Description

This is a classic heterobifunctional, hydrophilic crosslinker. It features a sulfhydryl-reactive maleimide group (targets cysteines at pH 6.5-7.5) and an amine-reactive N-hydroxysuccinimide (NHS) ester (targets lysines at pH 7.0-9.0). The two are separated by a 4-unit polyethylene glycol (PEG) spacer. The PEG4 chain enhances aqueous solubility, reduces aggregation, and provides a flexible, 21.7 Å spacer arm. It is a staple reagent for conjugating antibodies to enzymes, peptides to proteins, or for creating Antibody-Drug Conjugates (ADCs).
