PRODUCT INFORMATION
Description
This is a homobifunctional, sulfhydryl-reactive PEGylation crosslinker. It features two maleimide groups separated by a hydrophilic 2-unit polyethylene glycol (PEG) spacer. The maleimide groups react specifically with thiols (cysteines) at pH 6.5-7.5 to form stable thioether bonds. This linker is used to covalently crosslink two thiol-containing molecules. Compared to purely aliphatic linkers like 1,4-Bis(maleimido)butane, the PEG2 spacer increases the hydrophilicity of the linker and the final conjugate, which can reduce aggregation and improve aqueous solubility.
