Description
This is a heterobifunctional, hydrophilic PEGylation linker commonly used as a building block in solid-phase peptide synthesis (SPPS). It features a terminal carboxylic acid and a base-labile Fmoc-protected amine. The carboxylic acid can be activated (e.g., with HBTU or EDC/NHS) to couple with primary amines. The Fmoc group provides robust orthogonal protection, stable to coupling conditions but easily removed with mild base (e.g., piperidine) to expose a new primary amine. The long, 12-unit PEG spacer significantly enhances hydrophilicity and provides a substantial, flexible spacer arm.
