What Is Anterior Uveitis?

Consisted of iridocyclitis and iritis, anterior uveitis is a relatively common disease of uncertain etiology that usually appeared in the middle layer of the eye. It is mainly caused by inflammatory responses inside the eye. The symptoms of anterior uveitis include light sensitivity, throbbing eye pain, and blurred vision. The treatments of Uveitis primarily try to eliminate inflammation, alleviate pain, prevent further tissue damage, and restore any loss of vision. Also, it is mainly depended on the type of uveitis a patient displays. This condition can occur as a single episode and subside with proper treatment or may take on a recurrent or chronic nature.

LPS-induced Uveitis Model

The uveitis model is induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) which are found in the bacterial cell outer wall. It has been widely used in the evaluation of pharmaceutical products efficacy for the treatment of anterior uveitis and other inflammatory diseases in the eye. There have been reports suggesting that the cell number and protein concentration in the aqueous humor begin to increase 6 hours after the endotoxin injection and reach a peak at 24 hours before gradually decreasing. At Creative Biolabs, product efficacy is evaluated clinically with a slit lamp and by measuring cellular infiltration and protein concentration in the aqueous humor by our experienced scientists.
