Creative Biolabs now provides the well-established infectious keratitis models for worldwide customers. In combination with cutting-edge technology and our experienced experts, we guarantee our global clients the most reliable service at the most competitive price. Our professional scientists are very happy to help clients and accelerate their preclinical research programs.

What Is Infectious Keratitis?

Infectious keratitis is a potentially sight-threatening condition that can result from infection with various origins, such as viruses, bacteria, fungi, yeast, and amoebae. The condition is often marked by moderate to intense pain and usually involves many of the following symptoms: pain, impaired eyesight, photophobia (light sensitivity), red eye and a 'gritty' sensation. Several risk factors for infectious keratitis due to nonviral pathogens include trauma to the eye, overnight or extended wear of conventional contact lenses or orthokeratology lenses, chronic ocular surface disease, prior ocular surgery, other ocular defects, systemic diseases, use of topical corticosteroids or traditional eye medicines.

Infectious Keratitis Model

In the past years, numerous animal models of infectious keratitis have been developed to analyze the disease and discover more effective treatments that may prevent corneal damage. In particular, bacterial keratitis models induced by Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus are widely used to elucidate both the bacterial factors and the host inflammatory response involved in the disease. Furthermore, rodents in which specific genes have been deleted, altered, or alternatively controlled have been used in infection models to determine the host factors involved in disease.

Our Capabilities

As a pioneer company in the field of preclinical development, Creative Biolabs can provide a series of infectious keratitis models for global customers, which including but not limited to:

  • Pseudomonas aeruginosa-induced rabbit/mice keratitis model
  • Staphylococcus aureus-induced rabbit/mice keratitis model
  • Genetically modified mice keratitis model
  • Contact lens-induced keratitis model
  • Fungi induced keratitis model

To fully evaluate the efficacy of test substance and successfully create infectious keratitis models for follow up research, our experts will conduct a series of pre- and post-study clinical ophthalmic examination including ophthalmoscopy, slit-lamp biomicroscopy, fluorescein staining, and McDonald-Shadduck scoring system.

In addition, Creative Biolabs also offers other types of ocular disease models that you may be interested in:

Creative Biolabs is committed to establishing various infectious keratitis models with the aim of facilitating preclinical ophthalmology research programs. If you are interested in any of these services, please send us an inquiry or contact us directly for more information. Our professional scientists are willing to work with you step by step to make your project a success.
