CD59 Purification Protocol

CD59, also called MIRL or protectin, is a single chain, GPI-anchored cell surface protein structurally homologous to snake venom neurotoxins, which is broadly expressed on cells from all tissues. Its expression on erythrocytes is important for their survival upon homologous complement activation. Here, Creative Biolabs has summarized the two CD59 purification protocols for your reference.

CD59 Purification Protocol

  1. Purification By Anion Exchange And Hydrophobic Interaction

  1. Purification By Preparative SDS-PAGE

CD59 is remarkably resistant to denaturation and hence this method is suitable to purify functionally active CD59.
